What does "File in fs is not accessible (error:70)" mean?

This message...

File(######, #########) in fs(################################, 0) is not accessible (error:70).(repcnt:0)

...can be safely overlooked when checking the HyperFS event log in almost all cases.

It indicates that a HyperFS client attempted to access a file that does not exist (yet).

This is normal behavior, and can be caused by any of the following examples:

  • Apple Finder checking for the hidden ".DS_Store" file in a directory
  • Apple Finder checking for the hidden ".Trashes" directory on a volume
  • Windows Explorer checking for the hidden "thumbs.db" file in a directory
  • Windows Explorer checking for the hidden "desktop.ini" file in a directory
