How to set up a Backup & Recovery Task on Genesis NX2

Select the "Backup & Recovery" tab on the left side of the page. On the "Destination servers" tab, you can add a remote destination for backup snaps to be saved to. This can also be done in the backup snaps wizard.

Fill in the required fields and click "Apply".

Switch to the "Tasks" tab and select "Add replication task" to open the wizard.

Select "Browse" to choose the resource path the snaps will be saved from. In this example, we are backing up from a dataset. Select the resource and click "Apply".

Fill out the interval plan for your backup snaps. Notice how in this example, each rule corresponds with the previous rule so there are no gaps in the backups.

Here is the alternative option in the wizard to select a destination for the snaps to be saved to.

VMware VSphere integration - if we have a datastore created on a source resource before the snapshot of source is made, Vsphere makes a snapshot of every virtual machine on the datastore, so that the data on the datastore will stay consistent (on virtual machines for this snapshot).

mbuffer allows the data stream on both the source and destination to be buffered to avoid buffer underruns. Select the mbuffer size and rate limit you'd like to use and proceed to the summary page to confirm all settings are correct.

After confirming settings in the summary page of the wizard, click "Add". Navigate to the "Storage" tab on the left side of the page, then to the "Snapshots" tab. Here you can confirm that your auto snapshots task is active.

On this same page, you can click on the "Options" button to add a new snapshot manually, edit the selected backup task, or delete the task.
